MY STORY

Hi, I'm La'Sone and I am the founder of AlabasterNY. AlabasterNY is a Christian ministry and organization that is passionate about giving back to our community and helping those who are in need.

Ever since I was a young girl, I've always shared what I had with others and I always enjoyed helping people. I guess that you can say that it was formed from being the oldest of  9 children and sharing in the responsibilities of caring for my siblings, including my special needs brother with autism and Downs Syndrome.

The catalyst for my passion stems from a fond memory of when I was an early teen and I traveled with my Dad from our Long Island home to the Grand Central Station train terminal in New York City. We were armed with a giant Army coffee urn, food, and donuts donated to us from our local bakery. It was just my dad and me on that early Christmas morning, feeding homeless and disenfranchised people that huddled around the coffee and Christmas music that my dad was playing on the radio. It was the best Christmas that I ever had!

I continued my love of giving back through my church and other professional organizations throughout High School and College. I had no idea that unfortunate circumstances would see me in need of those very same organizations of kind and compassionate people. I had to depend on my local church and their food pantry for sustenance as well as the support of my friends when I found myself homeless and jobless for a time.

I know what it feels like to be without and that fuels my compassion for others who face unfortunate events and circumstances in life. Commission, Community, and Compassion isn't just my motto, it's what I live by!
